The Russian State Commission for Radio Frequency has simplified importation rules for telecommunications companies. Previous rules required a separate import license for every piece of equipment, whereas new regulations will automatically apply the import license of a particular product to its subsequent imports.

 

Although the revised rules will substantially reduce the import time frame for base stations and handsets from five months to several days, telecommunications companies do not anticipate the new rules to bring down costs.
